In spite of the dramatic developments in naval aviation during the conflict at this stage Steel Fleet is mostly concerned with surface engagements of the Second World War. We have commenced research on some encounters during the early Mediterranean engagement near Cape Matapan and the early battles of the Solomons Sea campaign of 1942.
